BLOZ DESIGNS hANDMADE jEWELLERY AND gLASSWARE MADE IN CORNWALL
Bloz Designs came about whilst staying in Volcano on Big island in 2003. We were walking through the village of Volcano (town?) taking in the sights, when I saw this beautiful display of jewellery in a shop window. Pete wandered on while I went for a look around and saw a stunningly beautiful Blue Dichroic glass pendant, which I naturally bought. On returning home I became interested in making my own jewellery, but there was not a lot of information about at the time. I did a stained glass course but quickly realised this was not for me and then found a warm glass course, the major drawback was that in order to get what you wanted it was necessary to have your own kiln. I purchased my own kiln in 2004 and booted Pete out of the garage. After getting used to the vagaries of the kiln, I started making my own Dichroic glass pendants, making enough to sell at small events locally as well as to family and friends. The garage became too small, and cold in the winter, so we decided to invest in a shedio (shed/studio) and bought a bigger kiln, allowing me to make more in a firing, also to look at making glassware. It did not take too long before the shed started getting smaller! So, we expanded the places to sell at. We started at Clevedon Flower Show in 2007 and have been there every year until 2019, it was also nice to catch up with our regular customers. 2009 saw us start a regular annual attendance at the Portishead Flower Show, starting off with a rather flimsy Gazebo, that at the end of the show had to be thrown away. For the next years PFS we purchased a Gala 3 metre marquee. I have, in 2015 and 2017 been to the Glass, Craft and Bead show in Las Vegas, where, in addition to doing courses to increase my knowledge of Fusing, I have also seen and bought the very latest in Dichroic glass products that are not available in the UK. Sadly, proper craft fairs are dwindling and we have to therefore go to shows where mass manufactured products are sold. It has taken some time, but we now have finally got the display sorted after years of trying different things. By looking at the Calendar page you can see where we will be. In December 2019 we came back home to Cornwall to spend the rest of our days here and exhibiting at local (ish) events. Jayne Hyde Bloz Designs
These are the source of my inspiration to take up my hobby, that were bought in Paia, on Maui in 2003.
